Pearls, silk, gold, caviar, myrrh, diamonds, truffles and other luxury cosmetics ingredients are not uncommon. In addition, they do not cost a fortune and enhance beauty. What care properties have made pearls, silk and gold found widespread use in the cosmetics industry?
Pearls – conditioning properties
These are one of the most expensive gems in the world! Pearls consist mainly of amino acids and mineral salts. While the former nourish the skin and delay the ageing process, the latter provide toning effects. Both amino acids and mineral salts have moisturizing properties. The pearls extract lightens and smoothes out scars, reduces acne lesions and helps get rid of stretch marks. Pearl Powder brightens the skin and has antibacterial and detoxifying properties.
Creams and lotion with pearl content are intended mainly for dry and delicate skin care. Freshwater pearls that accelerate cellular metabolism and inhibit the ageing process, are best for 20- and 30-year-olds. In turn, the extract of white and black sea pearls stimulates the activity of mature skin cells, which is why it is an ideal cosmetic for 40-year-old women.
Silk – properties
The main building blocks of silk are proteins: sericin and fibroin. They contain as many as 18 amino acids, which resemble the structure of our skin, and therefore penetrate it very easily, maintain its elasticity and delay the appearance of wrinkles. In addition, silk proteins have the ability to retain water in the epidermis and hair, which is why they moisturize perfectly. What’s more, their electrostatic charge is opposite to the load of the skin, which is why cosmetics containing silk strongly adhere to its surface and give a feeling of pleasant smoothness.
Shampoos and conditioners containing silk restore the hair’s shine and elasticity. However, creams and body balms with silk proteins are ideal for dry, rough and sensitive skin.
Gold – properties
Gold ions reach deeper layers of the epidermis, where they stimulate moisturizing and are the carrier of active substances derived, for example, from herbs. This makes the skin gain a better colour and become properly nourished and elastic. Cosmetics with gold content delay the ageing of the epidermis and reduce the visibility of already existing wrinkles.
Gold-based cosmetics work well both on mature and young skin that lacks proper protection or is excessively dry due to sunbathing. Allergy sufferers can feel free to use them as well.
